BRUCE GORDON RETROSPECTIVE FEATURED AT NAHBS HEWITT, Tex.—Bruce Gordon, a specialist in custom lugged bicycle frames and touring bikes, will feature an entire collection of original bicycles at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS), to be held March 2-4, 2007, in San Jose, California. The BG originals on display will include a wide ranging collection of bikes dating back to 1974, using top-of-the-line parts from each time period as well as original Gordon designs and ideas. The display will feature everything from lugged to titanium; road, track and touring bikes, plus a “Chopper” that was built back in 1994. And a 29’er, a mountain bike with 29” sized wheels, from 1990—perhaps the first ever made. The collection—24 complete bicycles and 5 frames in all—is Gordon’s personal stash, bikes he has made for himself over the 32 years he has been building bicycles by hand. After attending NAHBS in 2006, Gordon spoke with Founder Don Walker about the concept of displaying this collection of his life’s work at the 2007 show. “The North American Handmade Bicycle Show is a perfect place to bring out all the bicycles I’ve made for myself over all these years, all of which I still ride. I think the cyclists, engineers and designers who come to the show will enjoy seeing a few decades’ worth of techniques and styles in handmade frames.” Walker agreed that the idea was a perfect fit for the scope of this show. “I don’t know of another builder who has such a complete collection of his work, including so many varieties and styles, in a year-by-year progression.” Don’t miss your chance to grab a glimpse at these rare examples of the bike builder’s craft. In addition to the display, there will be a limited edition catalog with pictures and descriptions of each bike available for sale at the show – sure to become a collector’s item.
