PAUL SKILBECK
A veteran cycling journalist and media management expert prior to establishing O2 Sports Marketing, Paul Skilbeck began his professional career studying sports science and recreation management at Britain's elite Loughborough University. While still a student, he co-founded the British Mountain Bike Federation and brokered its incorporation into British Cycling. Immediately after graduating, he took contracts enabling him to work as a globetrotting freelance journalist, and soon had two books published on the subject of mountain biking, as well as founding the Mountain Bike Press Association, of which he remained the president for six years.
Moving from journalism to website management, in 1997 Skilbeck created the first website for the International Cycling Union. Thereafter followed stints as press officer at cycling world championships in 1998 & 9.
In 2000, now living in San Francisco, he took a job as communications director for Galeforce Sports Marketing, the co-owner of the Sea Otter Classic and operations/marketing consultants to the US National Off Road Mountain Biking Association national championship series. During this time he perceived the need for a company that is dedicated to publicizing products and events in cycling and outdoor sports.
Paul Skilbeck is a well known name in both the European and US cycling scenes, having written about, advised and promoted dozens of cycling events, organizations and manufacturers.
